Alrighty! Here’s my first. First tagalog song composed! (whew finally got to it right? It took me 18 years to write a song in my native language). It’s crazy, it is difficult to recall such words now, I wish I would’ve done more of this earlier. Nevertheless, the whole time I thought I was in trouble with my tagalog but, when I was able to finish it, of course with the gracious and immensely helpful friend of mine, Ace (aceus.tumblr.com), a huge relief was reached. THANKs ACE FOR ALL YOUR CHECKING AND THE WHOLE SECOND VERSE. *HUGS ACROSS THE WORLD FOR YOU*
So about the song. When I started writing this and shared the chorus to Ace, he reminded me it had an Up Dharma Down vibe to it. I have never listened to any tagalog indie/jazzy artists/bands before (I didn’t know they existed!) but when I did listen, man, what a compliment. New doors open. And that is the beginning of the middle of the story. I then ran with that Up Dharma Down vibe.
Honestly, I’d love to say that it was inspired by Nana and her feelings toward Seon Woo (Monstar) but, that would be lying. So instead, I’ll keep quiet about it.
I wrote this for the one-sided lovers out there. Cheers to hardships. Cheers to heart aches. Cheers to stupidity of our hearts. Cheers to us - to the patient, hard-working, sensible, warm, and nice beings.
LSS na ako sa kantang to <3. Hey Cate, It’s a pleasure helping you to finish your first ever tagalog song. Let’s make another one! Haha.
